We are proud of each of our Bird Dog Labs! Even though these dogs are no longer active in our breeding program, they are all still loved and part of our family. Those that are still with us are thriving and participate in various activities in our program. A couple have been re-homed into very special retirement homes where they get to live the rest of their days as loving members of the family.

Remi is our newest Master Hunter! She is a third generation Bird Dog Labs and is from our first litter between Birddog’s Hunting Heidi and HRCH UH Adonai’s Power Thru Ezra MH CGC. Remi was professionally trained by Rusty Haglund of Trigger Times Kennel. Remi didn’t enter into professional training until she was 2 years old. Despite her getting a later start, she completed her title within 2 years. In the field Remi is a great marker and hard charger. She loves to work! As a puppy she was a very high drive, but also demonstrated an excellent off switch in the home. Remi deliberately seeks out affection and snuggle time. She is funny how she goes about it too. When the other dogs are wanting to go outside she likes to hang back, and will flip over for some tummy rubs. Very sweet girl!

Gabby was the other unplanned addition and joined our Bird Dog Labs family in August 2015. She came to us with Dizzy from a kennel home. Gabby has since learned house manners and loves being part of the family. She is a smaller, compact chocolate female that has totally changed my previous stance regarding the ability of smaller dogs. This girl is intense in the field and is best described as retrieving machine! There is nothing she won’t do! Gabby is always happy and I frequently refer to her as our resident social butterfly. She gets along with everyone and is great with socializing the older puppies. She thrives on individual attention from her humans and is so eager to please. We have high hopes for this little lady!

Lucy is a gorgeous dark yellow female with fox red highlights. She has a shorter stature, but is built like a tank. She is very athletic and muscular.
In the field, Lucy is enthusiastic and methodical. She clearly thinks about what she is doing, yet is fearless about getting the job done. She takes directions nicely and works with you as a team. Lucy is a strong marker, but tends to use her nose in thicker cover. She quarters naturally and has demonstrated a natural point since she was a puppy. She has a middle of the ground sensitivity. Lucy doesn’t need strong corrections, but can definitely handle pressure. Lucy seems to enjoy challenging situations. She will figure out how to get to the birds and is very tenacious about it!
Lucy has a very happy and loving personality. She is always by my side and helping with whatever is going on. Lucy is in many ways my shadow. She is my girl that always helps keep the other dogs in line and is a phenomenal teacher for the young dogs. Birddog’s Sweet Remembrance “Lilly Etta”
Lilly Etta is a very special girl to us as indicated by her name. She is the female we kept out of our foundation female, Grace’s very last litter. Lilly is proving to take after her mother in many ways! She is extremely intelligent, has a strong desire to please and a pure joy to have around. In training she catches on very quickly and is proving to be a natural. She is a proven versatile hunting dog and has been both waterfowl and upland hunting. What really sets Lilly apart is how gentle and loving she is. This is especially true when it comes to how she loves to help with little puppies. Lilly often will sneak into the whelping boxes and lay down to love on the puppies. She has been a second mom to many of our Bird Dog Labs litters.

Birddog’s Goodtime Magnet MH25 “Maggie”

Maggie is the real deal. She has a tremendous amount of drive, yet is easy to train. She is very intelligent and learns new concepts quickly. Her desire to please is unparalleled. Maggie’s heart is what sets Maggie apart. She will do absolutely anything and everything she can to please! Maggie entered into professional training at 14 months of age and within 15 months earned her Junior, Senior and Master hunter titles. While working toward getting the final passed needed to qualify for the 2016 Master National, Maggie suffered a severe heat stroke. Thankfully we were able to get her the medical care needed (10 days ICU) to save her life and she was able to make a full recovery. After that she was able to qualify for the 2017 Master National, but couldn’t run due to coming into heat. So we gave it one more shot and she qualified for the 2018 Master National. She got through the 4th series, but was dropped due to a double handle for not seeing the birds fall. We were happy with her performance and the fact that she has 25 master passes. So Maggie came home and has been one of our queens of Bird Dog Labs ever since. We are fortunate to have 3 of her offspring, all sired by FC HRCH Maestro. Deja is from their first litter, Ditto is from the third and Houdini is from the fourth. Maggie’s uterus ripped during the cesarean of her 4th litter with Maestro, requiring her to be spayed December 19, 2020. Maggie was our first personal Master Hunter titled dog, but she was also the first Bird Dog Labs puppy to earn a MH title.
Maggie is a little different when it comes to chocolate. You have to go back 3 generations before you see the first chocolate dog in her pedigree. Her pedigree is loaded with some of the best field trial dogs in history, proven hunt test titled dogs, as well as outstanding upland and waterfowl hunting dogs that we know personally.

Brook joined our Bird Dog Labs family in 2014. She came to us from a kennel setting and blossomed in the home environment. She is a total gem with a wonderful personality. She adores all people and gets along well with all other animals she meets. She is so sweet and loving. When it comes to working she is all business in the field. She has incredible drive, is very intelligent, consistent accurate marking, excellent line manners and is a true team player. To top it off, Brook has an absolutely fantastic pedigree. Brook has proven herself to be an amazing producer with various studs! She has multiple hunt test titled offspring including Master Hunters, Senior Hunters, Junior Hunters. She also has a daughter that is QAA with multiple other Qualifying ribbons. Brook tends to produce very well balanced pups that excel in the field and live as family house dogs. Heidi is enjoying her life of retirement as house companion, hunting dog and nanny to all our Bird Dog Labs puppies! As of October 2021, at 12.5 years Heidi is still going strong!
Heidi passed away in July 18, 2023. She was 14 years old.
Heidi is a stunning, uniquely colored 80 pound female. She is dark yellow with very dark fox red highlights. Heidi is out of our very first litter ever produced, when Grace was bred with White Oak & BC Stoney Burke MH QAA (Son of FC AFC Fox Hollow’s Little Buddy). Heidi is a proven hunter and wonderful family dog. She continues to surpass all expectations and loves to show what she can do. She is a natural athlete and lives to retrieve. Heidi’s strong nose and natural quartering make her the perfect pheasant and grouse dog! Heidi is known for her very sweet disposition and huge desire to please. Heidi is a proven producer of very talented, gorgeous puppies. Birddog’s Power Of The Phoenix SH MH – “Phoenix”

Phoenix passed August 17, 2022 due to severe pancreatitis and an unknown GI issue the doctors could not identify. He had spent 2 weeks in ICU in Fargo and we did everything we could to try to help him. It came to a point where they wanted to do an exploratory surgery but said he had a very slim chance of making it off the surgery table. I decided to bring him home instead. We had a day where he was very happy, but he quickly declined and we helped him pass peacefully.
Phoenix was a 3rd generation of our foundation line and was from the repeat breeding between Heidi and Ezra. He was everything we hoped he would be and then some! Phoenix truly was the total package! He was a gentle giant that was always by my side. Phoenix was perfect in the home and a total beast in the field. He learned very quickly and always gave 110%. Phoenix earned his Master Hunter title as a 2 year old. He was a team player and truly a beast in the field. Phoenix was such a happy boy and always tried to please. He was very affectionate and would sneak giving me kisses. He was also content just to be by my side most of the time. Phoenix loved puppies. I have so many videos of him playing with various puppies and teaching them how to play with adult dogs. He was one of the key males in socializing puppies. Despite his size he was always gentle with them. Phoenix’s personality and exceptional temperament matched is absolutely gorgeous looks. Phoenix was a magnificent boy and caught the eye of everyone that saw him. He had what I call “WOW factor.” Phoenix was a perfect example of what we try to produce. He was the total package and was an invaluable member of the Bird Dog Labs family. He is missed everyday.We are so blessed to have 2 of his daughters. Unfortunately Phoenix’s semen did not freeze well. We did store the limited frozen semen that was collected and we will try to use it the future.

Birddog’s Amazing Grace – Our Foundation Female

Grace passed away in my arms on February 20, 2022. She was 2 weeks shy of her 15th birthday.
Grace is our foundation female of Bird Dog Labs! She is the one that got all of this started! Grace lived it up as the Queen Bee of Bird Dog Labs until the day she passed away. She kept everyone in check and spent her days doing pretty much whatever she wanted. On February 20, 2022 Grace passed away. She was 2 weeks shy of her 15th birthday!
Grace is an absolutely gorgeous 80 pound black female. She is the perfect combination of friendly disposition, natural hunting abilities, intensity in the field, and relaxed demeanor in the house. In the field Grace is hard charging, tenacious, and tractable. She works well in all hunting situations and loves both upland and waterfowl hunting. Her marks are right on point and she never gives up on a blind retrieve. Grace also has an exceptional personality and has worked as a therapy dog. Grace lives in our home and is part of the family.She is known for producing puppies that are very smart with strong marking ability and retrieving drive, all the while also making great family companions. Grace is everything anyone could ask for in a Labrador Retriever. We are so thankful to have 4 direct offspring from Grace. Heidi is from her first litter, sired by Stoney MH QAA.
